3
View Projected 8th CPC SalaryThe calculator shows the estimated new basic pay, monthly salary, and the total increase from your current 7th CPC pay.

What Is a Fitment Factor?

A fitment factor is the multiplier applied to the existing basic pay (including merged DA) to determine the new basic pay under a revised Pay Commission. The 7th CPC used a fitment factor of 2.57, which means every ₹1 of 6th CPC pay (basic + grade pay + DA) became ₹2.57 under the 7th CPC. The minimum basic pay increased from ₹7,000 (6th CPC) to ₹18,000 (7th CPC). For the 8th CPC, a fitment factor of 2.57 to 2.86 is expected based on historical patterns and employee union demands.

How the 8th Pay Commission Salary Calculator Works

The 8th Pay Commission salary calculator multiplies the current 7th CPC basic pay (with merged DA) by the expected fitment factor. The DA is merged with basic pay before applying the fitment factor, and the new DA resets to 0% under the 8th CPC.

Formula: 8th CPC Basic Pay
(7th CPC Basic+DA)×Fitment Factor
(₹56,100 + ₹29,733) × 2.57 = ₹85,833 × 2.57 = ₹2,20,591
Simplified: Without Separate DA Merger
7th CPC Basic×(1+DA%/100)×FF
₹56,100 × 1.53 × 2.57 = ₹2,20,519

Inputs: Current 7th CPC basic pay, current DA percentage, and expected fitment factor.
Outputs: Estimated 8th CPC basic pay, projected monthly salary, and total increase in salary.
Important note: The actual 8th CPC fitment factor and pay matrix are not finalized yet. Calculations are estimates based on historical patterns. The 6th → 7th CPC transition used a fitment factor of 2.57. Final numbers will be confirmed after the 8th Pay Commission submits its report.

8th Pay Commission Salary Calculation Example

An 8th CPC salary calculation example for 3 different pay levels using a fitment factor of 2.57 with 53% DA merged:

Level 1 (Minimum Pay): 7th CPC ₹18,000

₹70,778
Level 10 (Section Officer): 7th CPC ₹56,100

Basic + DA = ₹56,100 × 1.53 = ₹85,833. 8th CPC Basic = ₹85,833 × 2.57 = ₹2,20,591. Monthly increase = ₹1,34,758.

₹2,20,591
Level 14 (Joint Secretary): 7th CPC ₹1,44,200

The 8th Pay Commission is expected to be implemented from January 1, 2026. The commission was constituted in January 2025 and is expected to submit its report by late 2025. The final implementation date depends on government approval of the commission's recommendations.

The expected fitment factor for the 8th CPC ranges from 2.28 to 2.86 based on different estimates. The 7th CPC used a fitment factor of 2.57. Employee unions have demanded 2.86 to account for higher inflation since 2016. The final fitment factor will be determined by the Pay Commission's report.

The minimum salary under the 8th CPC is estimated at ₹34,560 to ₹51,480 per month depending on the fitment factor applied. With a fitment factor of 2.57 and current minimum basic of ₹18,000 (plus 53% DA merged), the new minimum basic would be approximately ₹70,778. Employee unions are demanding a minimum pay of ₹26,000 as the base (before fitment).

Yes, DA resets to 0% when a new Pay Commission is implemented because the existing DA gets merged into the revised basic pay. This happened during the 5th → 6th CPC and 6th → 7th CPC transitions. After the merger, DA starts accumulating again from 0% based on the new base year AICPI index.

The 8th Pay Commission will directly affect approximately 50 lakh (5 million) central government employees and 65 lakh (6.5 million) pensioners. State government employees in states that follow central pay commission recommendations will also be affected. The total impact covers approximately 1.15 crore (11.5 million) government employees and pensioners.

Yes, pensioners will benefit from the 8th CPC because pension revision follows the same fitment factor as salary revision. The revised pension = Existing pension × (1 + DA%/100) × Fitment Factor. Pensioners also receive Dearness Relief (DR), which is equivalent to DA for serving employees.
